Liverpool enters bid for Alaba

Liverpool have made an offer to Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, who will be a free agent this summer. According to information from the Italian journalist Romeo Agresti, quoted in the English media, The Reds have made a concrete move with which they want to outbid Real Madrid.

The offer to the 28 year old Austrian is said to be for a salary of 9 million pounds per season. That means 175,000 a week. If he accepts, Alaba will be one of Liverpool’s highest paid players. Only Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk are currently receiving more.

In the summer information emerged that Alaba had asked Bayern Munich for 20 million euros to re-sign. After some negotiations, the Bavarians decided in November to withdraw their last offer to the defender and so the talks on the new contract were finally terminated. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City are also interested in the Austrian.

Liverpool are making their move early to try and entice Alaba to Anfield as soon as possible. However, there are no indications that a transfer would go through in January, with Alaba happy to fulfil his contract at Bayern.

David Alaba joined Bayern Munich in 2008 and has won nine league titles and two Champions Leagues during his time there.
